BIO

Gonza was born in Moca, Dominican Republic in 1957. As a child, he had a natural talent for painting, specifically the application of color, and drawing. He has worked in many mediums but prefers oil and thick canvas for optimal depth and intensity. He uses primary colors to reflect Caribbean style. His artistic journey has afforded him great experiences, including a stint at the Ruckel Hausen studio in Germany, and participation in 8 individual exhibitions and 13 group exhibitions. When asked about where his inspiration comes from Gonza replied, “The ideas come to me suddenly. What I usually do is prepare my mind for the piece and look at objects related to the work. My approach to creation puts me in a continuous state of inspiration.”
