Born in Holguin Cuba in 1973, Jimmy Verdecia is an artist who prides himself on his figurative paintings. At 5 years old he began his journey through the arts. When he was 8, he enrolled in an elementary art school, and studied plastic art. He also studied in sculptural ceramics and plastic arts in Argentina. Throughout his 20-year career, he has been in more than 40 collective exhibitions in Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico. When asked about his art, Jimmy Verdecia said, “What attracts me most is the figurative part. I always start by making human figures.” He enjoys working with non-toxic acrylic paint due to the fact that it dries quickly. He works with a combination of brush and spatula to create perfect textures.
